Bosch. The oscillating PS50 Multi-X multi-tool (at left) runs on the maker’s 12-volt Max Litheon power platform, with a range of abilities. The tool can perform a variety of cutting tasks, scraping and grinding, and sanding. A 240-degree adjustable tool holder and variable speed dial (5,000 to 20,000 rpm) multiply the jobsite possibilities, and a provided adapter allows the tool to be used with accessories from Dremel, Fein, or Proxxon. Hitachi. The model DS18DSAL drill driver (at right) is the first tool in the maker’s Compact Pro Series of cordless tools. Powered by a 1.5-amp lithium-ion slide battery, the driver delivers 460 inch-pounds of torque from its 3.5-pound 7.7-inch-long body. The tool’s size offers comfortable use all day, without sacrificing power, the maker says. A variable-speed trigger sets the driver from 0 to 350 rpm or 0 to 1,500 rpm, depending on the power needed for the job. Part of the new Tradesman line of cordless tools, the model PC18RS reciprocating saw (above left) features a patented tool-free blade-changing system for fast blade removal and reduced downtime. The variable-speed trigger and 3,000-strokes-per-minute cut speed deliver fast, aggressive cuts in a variety of materials. The tool’s compact size allows for cutting in tight spaces, while a pivoting shoe offers control in complex cuts.
