Chang Type Industrial Co. has recalled approximately 258,000 table saws due to fire hazards, according to an announcement from the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The recall involves the Porter-Cable 10” Table Saw, manufactured by the Taiwanese company. According to the CPSC, the motor of the table saw can overheat, creating a fire hazard for users of the product.

The PCX362010 model of the Porter-Cable brand 10” table saw has a gray body with black accents and the Porter-Cable logo displayed on the side of the product. For identification purposes, the model and serial number are located on the saw’s nameplate, which is on the back of the saw near the bottom.

The manufacturer received 61 reports of table-saw motors overheating and causing fires, with one consumer reporting smoke damage to their home. The table saw was sold exclusively at Lowe’s stores nationwide from June 2016 through September 2018. According to the CPSC, consumers are advised to immediately stop using the table saw and contact Chang Type for a refund on the product.
