MoistureShield has launched MoistureShield Joist Tape, a protective adhesive designed to increase deck lifespans by protecting their substrates from the elements.

The patented acrylic adhesive and woven cloth substrate forms a tight seal over joists and deck screws to prevent moisture infiltration, enhancing the longevity of any deck frame and adding up to 10 years to the life of wood and metal-framed decks, according to MoistureShield.

“MoistureShield strives to provide our deck builders with innovative and high-performance products, like our new Joist Tape,” says Matthew Bruce, vice president of sales for MoistureShield. “With this proven solution for sealing out moisture, deck builders can now feel even more confident the deck will be fully protected in all areas from the elements.”

MoistureShield Joist Tape tears off the roll without any tools, does not adhere to itself, and can be repositioned without leaving any residue behind, MoistureShield says. The tape, ideal for installations in any climate, can be applied between temperatures of 20 degrees below zero and 200 degrees Fahrenheit. The product is available in 2-inch-by-65-foot, 4-inch-by-65-foot, and 6-inch-by-65-foot rolls. According to the company, the joist protection pairs with the company’s Sold Core manufacturing process for all of its composite deck boards, which fully encapsulate wood fibers for superior moisture resistance.
