DeWalt is recalling approximately 145,000 utility bars due to injury hazards posed when using the tool. The recall involves the manufacturer's 40" Multi-Functional Utility Bars designed with one end for prying and one end for gripping boards, according to an announcement from the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
The CPSC says the utility bar can break when being used for prying, posing an injury hazard to the user. DeWalt has received 56 reports of the utility bar breaking, including four reports of injured users.
The recalled utility bars were sold at The Home Depot and other hardware stores nationwide, and online on Amazon's website and other online retailers between December 2015 and March 2019. The recalled bars are yellow at one end and black at the other and display the manufacturer's brand name and model number—DWHT55293—in black print on the yellow end of the tool.
