A North Carolina contractor previously charged for obtaining property by false pretense is accused of taking thousands of dollars from a woman for a renovation project he did not complete, The News & Observer reports. The man has been charged with felony obtaining a property by false pretense and misdemeanor failing to do work after being paid for it.
Wake Forest police said the man took $13,500 in advance payments for scheduled remodeling work for a homeowner's basement and attic. The man has previously been charged for other cases involving property by false pretense in 2014 and 2016, The News & Observer reports. The man currently has four pending cases against him.
