Livonia, Mich.-based Masco Corp. is planning to sell off its cabinetry and window businesses, Crain's Detroit Business reports. The sales come after a strategic review of the company's businesses and finalize efforts to minimize exposure to the new-construction market. Masco aims to sell Ann Arbor, Mich.-based Masco Cabinetry, the maker of Merilat and KraftMaid product lines, and Milgard Windows and Doors of Tacoma, Wash.
"Over the past five years, we have executed on our strategy to reduce our cyclicality by increasing our exposure to the repair and remodel segment of the housing market," Keith Allman, Masco's president and CEO, said in a release. "This began with the spin-off of our installation services business and continued with a focus on improving the operations of our Cabinetry and Windows businesses."
Moving forward, the divestitures position Masco to zero in on its "less cyclical" plumbing and decorative architectural products businesses, Allman said in the release.
In 2018, Masco's cabinetry and windows and other specialty products segments pulled in $1.7 billion in net sales, the release said. The company recorded $8.4 billion in net sales last year.
Masco sells brands including Behr paint; Delta and Hansgrohe faucets, bath and shower fixtures; KraftMaid and Merillat cabinets; Milgard windows and doors; and more, according to the release.
