Lowe’s launched Lowe’s for Pros JobSIGHT, the first step of the home-improvement retailer’s previously announced $25 million commitment to support small businesses impacted by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Lowe’s for Pros JobSIGHT is an augmented video chat service powered by Streem that combines video, computer vision, and augmented reality capabilities to allow pros to conduct virtual visits with customers.

During the consultations with homeowners, Lowe’s for Pros JobSIGHT provides the ability for pros to video chat, troubleshoot, quickly detect serial numbers and product details, and review a one-page summary to address follow-up needs without having to be physically present in a customer’s home. In the tool, pros can use an on-screen laser pointed and an AR QuickDraw tool to guide customers through virtual consultations and, in some cases, help customers complete simple repairs themselves. After a session, pros can review a summary, including full video and audio, high-resolution photos, and notes to address follow-up needs.

The service is available for free for Lowe’s for Pros Loyalty Program members through October 31. The tool is designed to be accessible as possible, according to Lowe’s, and the experience works entirely through a mobile web browser without the need to download an app.

The announcement from Lowe’s builds on previous efforts by the retailer to support pros, including a dedicated pro shopping hour at 6 a.m., curbside loading and delivering to pro jobsites, and small business grants.

“We rely on pros now more than ever to keep our homes and businesses safely up and running, which is why we are working hard to build new ways to keep pros working and to be the new home for pros,” Fred Stokes, senior vice president of pro sales and services for Lowe’s, said in a prepared statement. “[The] announcement with Streem is just the first of many ways we will provide pros new and innovative options to connect with their customers while social distancing. We will continue to invest in expanded pro product offerings and prioritize services and partnerships to help run and grow their businesses.”
