Life "after" (or during) the pandemic has been full of unexpected disruptions. One of the ones we have been hearing about a lot recently is taking place at county and municipal building departments. Many offices that were closed during the spring and summer of 2020 remain closed or with reduced staffs, and the time it takes to complete the permitting, plan review and inspection process remains frustratingly long for some builders and contractors, sometimes with increased fees on top of it.
The relationships between contractors and building departments has often been strained, though often that is a persistent bad rap that doesn't always turn out true.
We are interested in learning more about the actual relationships and experiences of navigating the building code process on your projects, and we invite you to fill out our survey by clicking the link above. We will compile the results and share them with you in an article in the near future. Thanks for your help; our hope is that it will yield some useful insights for you and your peers about managing this part of the business. Thanks.
