With the electric car market growing at a significant pace, Forbes writer Lisa Chamoff reports car chargers are the latest must-have feature for new luxury neighborhoods. U.S. sales of electric vehicles has increased 81% from 2017 to 2018 and new technologies allow for higher volt outlets to charge cars, such as a Tesla, in about eight hours or less. Out in San Francisco, which is no stranger to green living, the LEED Platinum-certified Residence 950 by developer Troon Pacific comes equipped with branded Tesla charger and is also pre-wired for additional smart-car chargers in the four-car garage. The 9,500-square-foot home by developer Troon Pacific is asking $45 million.
Apartments have also caught on. In Manhattan’s Sutton Place, 348-unit postwar co-op The Sovereign, where 16 apartments are currently listed, features a valet garage with electric charging stations.
