OSHA has posted a new list of frequently asked questions (FAQs) on the agency's standard for respirable crystalline silica in general industry. The FAQs were developed in consultation with industry and union stakeholders to provide both employers and employees guidance on the silica standard's requirements. The questions are organized by topic and an introductory paragraph is included for each group to provide background information about the underlying regulatory requirements.
Topics of questions in the document include the scope of the standard, definitions, exposure assessment methods, regulated areas, methods of compliance, medical surveillance, communication of standards and hazards to employees, recordkeeping, and employee information and training. The agency also previously released FAQs specifically for the construction industry.
