In 1998, Pete Fowler published the first of several articles for JLC called Common Construction Defects, and since then has worked on thousands of litigated and non-litigated construction defect claims and litigation. His company, Pete Fowler Construction Services, Inc., has developed training around investigating, documenting, understanding, analyzing, repairing, and avoiding construction defects and defect-related claims and litigation, and is offering a free 60-minute webinar for property owners or managers, developers or contractors, building product manufacturers or suppliers, insurers, and lawyers that will allow for a better understanding of "the forest" perspective of the actual defects that often lead to litigation instead of trying to focus on each “tree.”

The panel discussion will begin with a review of what the world of construction defects looked like in the 1990s, then dig into today with a review of high-risk building elements and the most common defects in each of those categories. The program will conclude with a high-level summary of what it takes to avoid construction defects. The free 60 minute panel discussion will take place on Thursday, October 26th, 2023 at 10:00 am Pacific Time. The webinar is approved for 1.0 credit hour of continuing education credit in California, Texas, Nevada, and Florida. For more information or to register, click here.
