Walcraft Cabinetry today announced plans to expand into a new facility that will create 20 to 25 jobs over the next several years. According to a news release from the company, the 35,250-square-foot facility will provide career opportunities for individuals emerging from lives of crime and addiction.

The property under construction will include a warehouse, showroom, and finishing facility. Walcraft Cabinetry, based in Grass Valley, Calif., offers ready-to-assemble kitchen cabinetry that can be ordered online. Around 90% of its current employees come from pasts rooted in addiction or crime.

Walcraft Cabinetry serves as a mentor employer within California non-profit Project HEART (Holding Excellence Above Relapse Team) and focuses on providing jobs for those who cannot find employment due to their checkered pasts. Walcraft Cabinetry owner Sean Walsh says his other company, Walsh Built Homes—a residential construction and remodeling company—also utilizes the same hiring strategy.

"We are seeing lives impacted through the growth of our businesses and it is our customers who make it possible,” Walsh said in the press release. “We view our customers as partners and friends who—whether they know it or not—are making lasting life change possible and changing the trajectory of generations to come, one set of cabinets at a time."
