Many remodelers specialize in something, but few specialize like Starburst Construction. That’s because 90% of the company’s business is remodeling Eichler homes. These mid-century modern tract homes were built between 1946 and 1966, mainly in California, and today they have a loyal following.

For many in the San Francisco Bay area, that loyalty extends to Starburst Construction. But it’s not just because the company specializes in contemporary remodeling, construction, and preservation. With 40 years in business, Starburst has also worked hard to create long-term relationships.

“We don’t have customers, says Cindy Carey, the company’s COO. “A customer is a one-off, and that’s not what we do. We have clients. For me, a client is someone you have a relationship with for life. A lot of clients have seen our kids grow up and we’ve seen their kids grow up."

The same care is taken with new clients as well. Carey is particularly proud of the firm’s collaborative approach to design, which brings designers, architects, decorators, and anyone else involved into the process before anything else begins.

“We make sure they have the best information they need to make decisions,” she says.
