OHi (Our Home Improvement) started in 1900 as Carpets by Ray and Sons, grew to include hard flooring in the 1970s, and began taking on construction projects in 2004. The company was rebranded and incorporated as OHi in 2015.
Though the company has evolved and taken on a new name, it has always remained in the home building industry. According to Vikki Basinger, OHi’s marketing manager, the secrets to the company’s longevity are its customers and its dedication to customer service.
“Our goal is to help our customers achieve their goals, and in turn, we know we’ll achieve our own,” Basinger says.
“Each of our designers has a different capacity level, and we leave it up to them to connect with their manager on their current state, and tell him they need to tap out,” Basinger says. “He then will bring it up to the rest of the sales and design teams and let them know, and ensure there’s not an ‘across the board’ issue, since we cannot not take estimate appointments. The sales team will also then know not to assign estimate tasks and appointments to that designer.”
The policy, roughly a year old, is working well for the company. All the designers at the company have found it helpful, Basinger says.
