Great Day Improvements may be only eight years old, but the brands it owns have been around for more than half a century. The Patio Enclosures and Stanek Windows brands became part of Great Day in the aftermath of the housing crash when both were “struggling enterprises,” says Mike Hoy, Great Day’s president. “It’s been a remarkable turnaround since then.”

In fact, Great Day, which manufactures and designs its sunrooms, claims to be the largest installer in the nation and the only custom maker of patio enclosures. And with Stanek’s windows and patio doors, it offers factory-direct service with window and door replacement, too.

But controlling the process offers more than quality. “We literally manage everything from beginning to end,” Hoy says. “Owning the manufacturing process and owning the customer experience gives us insight many of our competitors would never have.”

Hoy says those insights are key to the company’s growing revenues, which are projected to top $66 million this year. “It’s all about the data and being able to analyze that data in real time and adapt quickly,” he says. For example, when the threat of aluminum tariffs began to roil prices, the company quickly adjusted costs.

Hoy says in-house tech is also helping speed the sale of enclosures and windows. A process that used to take 30 minutes can now be done in minutes with more accuracy. Other technology automates touch points and reminds employees when to reach out.

Meanwhile, a 20-question customer survey after projects are completed provides further data for the company to mine—and an opportunity to ask for repeat business. “If you’re willing to recommend or refer us, that’s a big deal,” Hoy says. “We’re laying the foundation for delivering a great experience throughout the process, and referrals are a natural byproduct of that.”
