Engineering student Larry Tait founded his company 40 years ago as a roofing operation. Today Taitco does mostly full-service remodeling focused on small jobs, and sons Lincoln and Spencer sell and manage.
• Salespeople are involved in projects from start to finish: they manage the jobs they sell right up to collecting the last check.
• The company is determined to come up with solutions that other companies can’t seem to find. The most recent example: “A custom-designed and built door that slides into the attic so that we’re [maximizing] every square inch of space there,” Spencer Tait says.
• By focusing on how to get the most bang for the buck for clients, Taitco earns trust. A homeowner recently called requesting an estimate for a new roof, which two other companies had told him he needed. “We saved them thousands with a couple hundred dollar repair job,” Spencer says.
