Today Randy and his brother Tim (right) operate the largest home improvement company in the Texas Panhandle, offering windows, siding, roofing, doors, and sunrooms, as well as a kitchen division opened two years ago. The kitchen operation inspired the brothers to expand their showroom so that it now features a design center including three complete kitchens and a full bath.

Both brothers are seasoned, million-dollar home improvement salespeople. Their sales prowess enabled the company to more than triple its sales since 2003. While many remodeling and home improvement companies saw lackluster sales or sales in retreat for the last two years, Big State Remodeling committed itself to reaching prospects by direct marketing approaches such as canvassing, combining that with its dominant position on local cable.

Tim says that the challenge now is for the brothers to become as good at administration as they are at marketing and selling. Fast-growing companies have to “get the key employees in place,” he says. “Without your team, you’re nobody.”
