Four years of HBA awards have firmly lodged Schermick Construction in the minds of addition-minded homeowners. Winning at least two Remodelers Merit Recognition honors a year has landed project photos on the HBA of Berks County Web site, which serves 1,100 members and the public. This past year, Schermick received 25 leads from the site; eight turned into jobs.
"Because they see a picture of a project, and we've won in multiple categories, people think we're an exceptional contractor," says Larry Schermick (second from left), whose average job is about $50,000.
His team makes sure the company lives up to that perception. That includes Theresa Schermick (third from left), office/product selections manager and editor of a monthly newsletter that keeps the company in touch with 220 past clients.
A showroom, expected to open later this year, will bring more visibility. The company is converting a 1927 factory building, making it among few area contractors with a retail sales display.
