Being a top revenue producer is nothing new for Window World.

But how the company achieved that milestone this year is different. For years, Window World’s revenue was tied to one thing: topline unit sales, says company president Steve Kamody. But with a cooling economy, those sales have plateaued. So Window World found two new ways to grow sales: raising prices and diversifying its product mix. For price increases, Kamody says, Window World asked all store managers to take a hard look at their margins and their market. “We felt a lot of our stores were leaving money on the table."

Then Window World went to its product suppliers to see where it could expand sales. The company is now pushing entry doors, garage doors, and stone siding. It’s even considering roofing. “Our ultimate goal is to offer the homeowner the entire exterior envelope,” Kamody says.

But what hasn’t changed, he adds, is commitment to customer service. Ultimately that’s what will keep revenue strong year after year. “A lot of competitors are very aggressive on the front end, and once they have the sale they move on,” Kamody says. “We want to build long-term relationships with our customers so they call us back when they’re ready for another remodel and refer to us others. That type of goodwill grows exponentially.”
