Jeremiah Davies wasn’t scared by the recession. He was inspired by it. At a time when many businesses were folding and friends found themselves out of work, Davies was just getting started.
“I wanted to be a creator and part of a solution and make opportunities happen, and not be a person in a rut,” he recalls. “The big 'why' has never changed for me. My purpose was to take care of the people around me, be a source of positivity, and make sure I was providing others with opportunity, whether for a customer to get a good price or for someone in the industry to find a good place to work.”
With that motivation, Davies started his company in 2007 but kept a backup job in insurance restoration until 2011, when he turned his attention to his firm full time. He ran the business solo for two years before hiring a staff. Thanks to nine years in the Marine Corps and a background in sales and marketing, Davies found his stride and perfected his leadership style.
Davies then turned his attention to his six-year plan and structured the company’s systems so anyone could easily take over the business in his absence. Doing so allowed his firm to thrive when others were sadly going under, he notes.
He credits his success to understanding the importance of testing and measuring and using the results to make informed decisions. “To become large, you have to be a sales and marketing firm that happens to do construction services projects,” Davies adds.
