84 Lumber launched a new initiative to raise awareness of products made in the United States. Called “ We Build American,” the initiative was revealed at a press conference Wednesday at the 2013 International Builders' Show in Las Vegas.

The brainchild of Delaware builder Marnie Oursler, “We Build American” came about after she built a client’s new home with products that were almost entirely made and sourced in the U.S. And the best part, according to Oursler, is that the cost of using American-made materials is within one and one-half percent of the cost of using materials manufactured on foreign shores.

Oursler further encourages builders, contractors, and other construction professionals to ask their suppliers for American-made products, adding that it does take some extra research but it is well worth it in the end.
