For Tools of the Trade, David Frane visited the headquarters of footwear maker Keen whose claim to fame was making sports sandals. Now, the company has expanded into making work boots. Frane went behind-the-scenes to the work boot factory to see how they design, assemble, and test Keen’s Industrial Line.

I visited Keen because like most folks who have worked in the trades, I'm interested in how things are made, especially tools. And when you get down to it, the better work boots and workwear are tools.
