Homeowners are becoming more and more eager to find ways to see their home improvement or design projects dreams realized before a single nail is hammered. Virtual reality, augmented reality, and 3D renderings are becoming more and more a part of how companies are selling their products and designs.

New York Times writer Kate Murphy writes that:

Although virtual reality, augmented reality and 3D renderings have varying degrees of verisimilitude, many design experts and homeowners agree that they are better than leaving things to the imagination, and they are much easier to decipher than a blueprint.

Murphy spoke with Kohi Vo, chair of the department of interior design at Savannah College of Art and Design, who says this technology is,

“Definitely the wave of the future, because it allows the general population to make design decisions without feeling hesitant or insecure. These programs allow us to not only show, ‘Here’s what a design will look like,’ but ‘Here’s what it will look like at night during a full moon and here’s what it will look like during the day.’"
