Propex. A new type of roofing underlayment is coming to market. The Opus Roof Blanket is constructed of a polypropylene fabric designed to replace roofing felt and plastic sheeting underlayment on steep-slope roofing. New technologies make the material’s surface area more slip-resistant than other materials. It easily accepts chalk lines, and the tan color keeps roofs cooler even on hot days. 800.621.1273. www.propex.com.

Versatex. In partnership with FastenMaster, the maker has introduced the Cortex Concealed Fastening System. The process uses a proprietary trim screw and a combination setting tool/drive bit that countersinks the fastener into the PVC trim, creating space above the fastener for a Cortex PVC plug. The Cortex system eliminates caulking, sanding, and painting to hide fastener holes. The plugs are made from the same material as the trim, can mimic smooth or wood grain surfaces, are fully paintable, and warranted for the life of the trim. The FastenMaster Cortex Concealed Fastening System is available in 250 lineal foot and 750 lineal foot packages. 724.857.1171. www.versatex.com.

From the roof, to the trim, to the soles of their feet, exterior remodelers will be interested in these new products on the market. This week's online slideshow includes a new roofing underlayment from Propex, being introduced at the International Roofing Expo next week, a unique and easy way to fill nail holes in exterior trim, and an aluminum porch framing system to extend living space to the outdoors. Outdoor lighting will help enhance the landscape, and a great pair of workboots will keep installers comfortable all day long.
