The newest kitchen and bathroom faucets retain a traditional sensibility but sport sleek lines and modern finishes. Nickel finishes -- from brushed to satin to polished -- remain popular, but chrome and stainless steel still hold their own.

Harrington Brass Works. The Capri Collection of lavatory faucets includes wide-spread, single-hole, and vessel faucets. Constructed of solid brass, the collection features a minimalist design and is available in polished chrome, polished nickel, satin nickel, and pearl nickel finishes. (201) 818-1300.

Elkay. The model LK6165 kitchen faucet in the maker's Allure line features a near-90-degree angle, squared high-arc design and single-lever control. Made of solid cast brass with ceramic-disc washerless valves, it is available in chrome or brushed nickel. (630) 574-8484.

Franke. The Triflow water-filtration bath faucet incorporates a third handle that operates the filtration system. Independent water lines run through the faucet and spout to provide filtered water unmixed with unfiltered water. The system's filtration unit fits under the sink. Delta. The Botanical Bath Collection features four faucet and bath-accessory designs, including Calla Lily (shown), with a variety of spout and handle options. Price Pfister. The Parisa kitchen pullout faucet features the maker's ergonomically shaped Comfort Spray pullout spray head and single-lever operation. Two concealed buttons on the spray head allow the user to toggle between a gentle stream, a jet spray, and a full spray. The faucet is available in stainless steel and polished chrome finishes. Moen. The Kingsley Roman tub faucet is available with a built-in transfer valve and hand shower. The user can divert water flow to the hand shower without installing additional hardware on the tub surface, says the maker. The faucet comes in five finishes. (800) 289-6636.

Symmons. The Water Dance multihead shower system can be custom-configured to meet specific space and ergonomic requirements by mixing and matching its components: showerhead, hand spray, diverter, High-Flo antiscald shower valve, body sprays, and tub spout. The Valhalla line of bath faucetry is available in wide-spread and wall-mount lavatory, tub, thermostatic and pressure-balanced shower and bidet, and center lavatory configurations. KWC Faucets. A classically styled bridge kitchen faucet, the Hommage 1922 is a redesign of an original 1922 KWC product.
