A master bath remodel that combines earth, fire, and water.
The stone veneer used in the bath wraps around the wall to the bedroom, making the two spaces feel more cohesive. The EcoSmart fi replace’s denatured ethanol fuel canisters are refi lled in the bottom tray of the unit. The fi replace came with a glass panel on one side (bedroom) and Sharrock installed glass on the shower side to prevent water from splashing in or towels from touching the fl ame. He consulted with a glass company for the heat-resistant glass and had the glass panel pre-drilled, attaching it using hardware from CR Laurence (crlaurence.com).
When design consultant Keith Sharrock was looking for a fireplace to fit this client’s bathroom, he didn’t have to look far. Dave Fox Design/Build Remodelers has an EcoSmart unit in its conference room. The company has used EcoSmart fireplaces on about five jobs. “It’s a great product for basements because you don’t have to worry about heat and moisture,” Sharrock says. In addition, the units work in both contemporary and traditional designs. “You can place an EcoSmart tray in the existing fi replace,” he says, “or tile over it to give it a modern look.”
