Updating the fa¡ade and reconfiguring the floor plan to comfortably accommodate the lifestyle of a large family.

Trellises dress up the front façade and add depth to the garage doors. The architect designed the pieces, a subcontractor made the Douglas fir structures, and Jackson & LeRoy Remodeling did the installation. As a standard practice, the crew caps trellis slats with aluminum or copper to protect the end grain.



The wife thought she was being practical when she suggested she didn’t need a bigger kitchen. The husband and Schwemmer convinced her that with seven children, enlarging the kitchen is being practical. The spacious family room is open to the dining room and the kitchen.

The husband was adamant that his office be located on the front of the house, so the architect applied for a special exception.
