Homeowners are often faced with the question of whether to remodel their existing home, or build an entirely new home with their own specifications. However, experts say that if homeowners are happy with where they are currently, remodeling a home turns out to be a big money saver for new construction.

Adding new amenities to a home or a new bedroom for added space is cheaper than going forth and building an entirely new home from the ground up. George Clark, a field manager for Glass Block in Michigan, suggests renovating an unfinished basement or improving the flooring in a home, “really makes a home sell an adds some real dollar value.” However, based on the market, project, and individual, value numbers can go up or down.
