In select GE refrigerators, consumers will no longer have to reach for their water pitcher to realize that it’s empty. Thanks to a new GE gadget, consumers can now use autofill technology to fill up a built-in pitcher, keeping filtrated, cold water always handy. This is an alternative for consumers not wanting to invest in expensive, wasteful water bottles or sink filtration systems.
“The development of the original Autofill Pitcher as a DIY add-on aftermarket accessory allowed us to perfect the design on a small scale, before scaling it to mass manufacturing,” says Jason May, top freezer product manager for GE Appliances. “We discovered that many top freezer owners were already pitcher users, but with frustration points of inadequate filtration, and having to constantly fill the pitcher. Creating a solution to these problems is why we advanced the technology and added it to our lineup.”
