Smart-home technology is quickly expanding and 45% of homeowners are considering including the tech-savvy upgrades in their remodels, according to a recent Houzz survey. If you aren't up-to-date and informed about the latest technology, it could spell trouble for you and your business.
"Simply giving every client the same, canned, one-size-fits-all pitch about the benefits of smart-home products can lead to alienated customers and lost business," the NAHB says on its blog NAHB Now.
What to do instead, advises NAHB, is to give a personalized spiel about home technology to clients. Make sure the technologies you tell your clients about are not only relevant to them, but are also said in a way they can understand.
