All 50 states in America have different rules for lien law, not to mention different names for it from preliminary notices, notices of intent, mechanics liens, lien waivers, and more. Yet, no matter what you call a lien law in your state, it can be confusing to get through all that legal jargon, not to mention tedious. Zlien writer, Olivia Huppman, looked at lien statuses for private projects in all 50 states. What Huppman found is that on average, 25 pages is the average of some of the status laws, where Florida has 65 pages of lien status laws.
