Using both the kitchen product features data gathered by Home Innovation Research Labs’s 2016 Builder Practices Survey (or BPS) and the kitchen color theme data gathered by home remodeling and design platform Houzz, NAHB Eye on Housing has assembled a series of pie and bar charts which demonstrate the color and construction makeup of 2016’s new kitchens.

New kitchens tend to have granite countertops, raised panel wood cabinets, and come with a standard set of appliances, such as cooktops & ranges, microwaves, dishwashers and garbage disposals. New kitchens also have white, multi-colored, or wood-based color themes, and are complemented by “stainless steel” appliances.

Laminate countertops are present in only 14% of kitchens, and washers and dryers are only included in 36% and 34% of new homes, respectively.
