Lead paint continues to make the headlines across the country as states such as New York, Maryland, New Jersey, and more make efforts towards combating lead paint in older homes and getting kids tested early for lead exposure.
Lead paint was banned in 1978, yet older homes (primarily found in low-income housing) still have lead paint. Children are often most prone to exposure as when lead paint is chipped or plaster is removed, children can eat the paint chips.
Homes in St. Louis are found to contain lead paint. Fox2 Now news speaks with one mom as she takes her child to be tested for high levels of lead in their blood. Doctors in the area are requesting that parents with children six and under, who they worry may be exposed to lead, call the Citizen’s Service Bureau to request a free lead inspection.
