Ann Carrns for The New York Times writes on how which projects homeowners can expect the best money back return for their home improvement projects. This spring, remodeling projects are expected to to increase as home values recover from the housing crash and as real estate sales return to normal. According to the Bankrate, roughly 36 million people, a quarter of American homeowners, are expected to make upgrades to their homes within the coming year.
The Times cites Remodeling’s Cost vs. Value report as a good source for homeowners to know which projects add equal value at resale time. As noted in the report, the most popular home upgrades include home exterior projects, decks, patios, landscaping, flooring, windows, and siding.
