Remodeling magazine’s annual Cost vs. Value report continues to have an impact on home remodeling companies and their clients. From the Fiscal Times, writer Margarette Burnette breaks down five tips on where clients should invest for their next home remodeling project.

  1. Clients should consider where they will get a return on their investment. Burnett cites that using Remodeling’s Cost vs. Value is a good place to start on saving your client from putting thousands of dollars into a project that, in the end, won’t increase they value on their home.
  2. Creating a budget is critical to figuring out where to begin with a remodeling projects that clients don’t run out of cash in the middle of a project. Remodeling Magazine provides a good tool on where clients can find different contractors and compare prices for various projects.
  3. Burnette recommends that clients check references and ask for credentials from remodeling professionals. Be sure to have these on hand as clients shop around for who they should work with.
