BuildFax has released its annual ranking of U.S. cities for residential remodeling. The report finds that nationwide remodeling projects have increased by 9% between Dec. 2014 and Dec. 2015. Since 2010 remodeling activity has increased by 40%. In Colorado Springs, Colo., 14.7% of homes were remodeled within the last year, with the most common projects being on electrical, mechanical, and roofing.

BuildFax determined this ranking by extracting building permit information from 23 billion data points of construction records from a cross the country. Looking at 100 cities across the U.S. and the number of residential remodeling projects per household, BuildFax used this data to calculate the top 20 cities with the most remodeling activity.

Holly Tachovsky, CEO of BuildFax notes that,

As more and more people renovate their homes, the surrounding property values go up too. So even if you’re not actively fixing your place up, you’ll see the comps in your area increasing in value. As economic conditions appear to be consistent with those of 2015, we expect residential remodeling to continue at the same pace.

Ranked number two behind Colorado Springs was Orlando, Fl. with 12% of homes in the last year being remodeled. To learn more, click the link below.
