Keeping the pace
In the fourth quarter of 2013, HGTV saw an average of 62.2 million viewers a month. That’s roughly 2 million viewers per day, slightly below the average number of people aged 25–54 who watched ABC’s “Good Morning America” each day in the same quarter.
Celebrities such as Jennie Garth, William Shatner, Ellen DeGeneres, and Daryl Hall of music sensation Hall & Oates have new remodeling shows in the works.
In 4Q 2013, of the most-watched cable TV networks on weekends, HGTV ranks No. 2, leading TNT and the Food Network, but behind ESPN. “House Hunters” and its spinoffs are the most popular on HGTV, followed by “Property Brothers” and “Love It or List It.”
Money to spend
The average HGTV viewer has an extra $19,861 left over from his/her annual budget. The average DIY Network viewer has an extra $18,420 left over. That roughly equals one midrange bathroom remodel per year, according to Remodeling’s 2014 Cost vs. Value statistics.
