A subsidiary of Home Depot will have to pay a fine of $37,065 to settle violations of a lead-based paint removal project that took place during Arvada, Col. home remodel. The U.S. Environmental Protection agency reached a settlement with Atlanta-based THD At-Home Services. The eventual settlement alleges that the company “failed to ensure that waste debris and dust at the project site were properly contained and that the work area was fully cleaned of dust, debris, and residue in accordance with federal requirements."
Previous testing showed that there was a presence of lead-based paint in this particular home.
This is yet another reminder to any home remodeler to be cautious during a lead-based paint removal project, as it could lead to damaging results in the future.
