The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has fined two Denver contractors for violations to its Renovation Repair, and Painting Rule (RRP Rule).
According to the EPA's press release, Solid Ground Homes, LLC, performed a renovation on a home pre-1978. The company was not lead-safe certified and did not use the appropriate lead-safe work procedures. Solid Ground will pay a fine of $18,000.
Lime Painting also violated the EPA's lead-safe policies when it removed the exterior paint of a pre-1978 home. The company used "prohibited power sanding and grinding operations without being an EPA lead-safe certified firm and without following lead-safe work practices." The firm will pay a $19,950 fine.
