Residents in Hartford, Conn., are being warned to be on the lookout for 44-year-old James Delmaro who, consumer protection officials say, has been going door-to-door to offer illegal home improvement work. According to the New Haven Register, Delmaro was denied a home improvement registration in 2008, but the Consumer Protection agency says it has been receiving reports that Delmaro has been soliciting work to customers.

Delmaro has a known history of using different names to avoid arrest to continue to swindle homeowners, said the newspaper. Similarly, Delmaro has used different business names such as Bull Dog Roofing, Flat Roofing, and First Choice Roofing. Judicial records from Connecticut show that Delmaro is facing several pending cases from all across the state on a variety of charges. These charges include: criminal impersonation, forgery, collecting sales tax without a permit and violation of home improvement contract regulations.
