Marketplaces’s Sally Herships reports on a new study from Columbia University that finds tension with collaborators is good when you’re working on a creative project.

The study focused on video game companies that come up with fantastical designs and story lines for players. Those working on a creative team need to be able to put up with uncertainty, tolerate tension, and turn that tension into something productive. If everyone has come from the same background, been exposed to the same things, and constantly agrees you aren’t finding something that is unique.
