The National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) is offering a green remodeling education program this year, and next year it plans to unveil a green certification program. The 12-session education program includes weekly two-hour classes on building science, green remodeling guidelines, solar installations, appliance selection, and marketing a green business. In keeping with the green theme, the classes will be run as telephone seminars with students calling in to participate.
The association began with a pilot program in August. The first full program begins at the end of this month. NARI will provide reference manuals for the classes and a program book on CD-ROM, and eventually plans to post the material online.
The schedule and price of the class will also be posted on the association's Web site. NARI's certification board is working on green remodeling certification for 2007.
