Mitchell Parker for Houzz looks into two farmhouse kitchens that bring the rustic feel of the farm into the kitchen.
Designer Dawn Hearn of Texas updated a farmhouse kitchen to include two kitchens; one for prepping and one for entertainment. The kitchen includes quartz countertops, stainless steel appliances, and gray cabinetry. The remodeling project had one hiccup as Hearn explained to Houzz, "We wanted floating shelves with brackets on the sink wall; however, the faucet that the homeowner selected was tall enough that we needed to carve out part of the lower shelf for function and appearance. What was initially a challenge turned into an interesting design detail.”
The second featured kitchen comes from Morris, Ill. that includes a dining area. An open layout that includes natural light from its many windows, this kitchen was painted island blue to give it a rustic and homey feel. The Easter blue paired with the white cabinetry and white tile, adds brightness to the room. Adding light fixtures with chicken coop-like wiring lampshades give this kitchen an aesthetically pleasing barn-like atmosphere.
