Whether you're new to the field or have been in the remodeling business for years, this year's series of installation clinics at the annual Remodeling Show is a can't-miss. These “how-to” sessions, led by some of the industry's top working professionals, are a great way for production staff of all levels to keep abreast of the latest tools and techniques.

The hands-on demonstrations are held on sets specially constructed to reflect a real-world working environment. Bring your lead carpenter or production manager and, after attending a clinic, discuss what changes could be implemented in your company to improve existing systems and methods.

Drywall Essentials Get a fresh perspective on an age-old process at this clinic, which focuses on basic drywall procedures, the latest tool innovations, repairs, advanced techniques, and state-of-the-art finishes. Presenter Myron Ferguson is the author of best-seller, Drywall: Professional Techniques for Great Results.

Door-Hanging Details From plumbing, shimming, and fastening techniques to flashing, waterproofing, and weather-stripping details, this clinic provides an in-depth look at the process of hanging various styles of interior and exterior doors. Presented by Steve Phipps, a custom-home builder and cabinetmaker in Los Angeles for more than 20 years.

Trim for a Lifetime Attend this clinic to brush up on the latest techniques in trim fabrication; find out how to make exteriors last a lifetime with PVC trim; and learn how to get creative with design by applying heat. Frank Caputo, a general contractor and finish carpenter for 20 years in Northern California, hosts this demonstration.

Building the Moisture-Resistant Bathroom Learn how to fight moisture and mold in the bathroom by installing moisture-resistant flooring and panels for walls and ceilings. Also, find out why backerboard is even more useful than you thought. Presenter Bill Robinson has spent 15 years building, remodeling, and teaching on California's central coast.

Interior Trim Carpentry Led by California remodeler Gary Katz, this clinic will explore the fundamentals of crown molding, how to create distinctive mantelpiece designs, and how to build better bookshelves. Katz gives similar exhibitions around the country and is host of The Katz Road Show: Clinics on Finish Carpentry Techniques.

Building a Leak-Proof Shower This clinic will include sessions on how to more effectively (and efficiently) prepare the subfloor and composite floor of a shower stall; how to set up, install, and understand a low-profile drain system; and more. (Presenter to be announced.)
