Feeling Uncertain? Here's the Prescription...
Uncertainty runs deep. With our country, our political system, our economy, our businesses, and our future. Add to that the typical winter challenges (personal stress, client stress, backlogs tightening, etc.). I don't know about you, but often my first reaction in the face of all this is to scramble. What should we be doing that we aren't? What new things should we try? Should we jump into a new business entirely?
After some deep breaths and chocolate, it is evident to me that focus is what is really needed. Focus on what our respective businesses value. Focus on what our clients demand. Focus on what is important. Scrambling only leads to further uncertainty, activity in lieu of results, and potentially catastrophic outcomes.
If uncertainty and typical winter challenges are spinning you like a top (like they can do to me), take some deep breaths, eat something that "does it" for you (i.e. chocolate) and ask yourself what is important. Important to you, to your clients, and to your team. Then focus on that. Spend time thinking about what you can do to push "that" forward.
Avoid other distractions and find time to enjoy the holidays rather than simply "surviving" them.
