CALBath's goal is to raise the kitchen and bath industry's standards by “providing value-driven remodeling products and services to improve customers' quality of life,” say owners Daniel Liechty and Scott Davis.
Friends in college, Liechty (right) and Davis spent two summers refinishing bathrooms in 300 apartments owned by the school. “Getting the job was a fluke,” Liechty says. The partnership has grown from those humble beginnings into a many-tiered enterprise with several divisions in different locations: Santa Ana has a multifamily focus, and there are residential remodeling branches in Newport Beach and San Diego.
For mainstay CALBath, designers and all tradespeople are employees. That workforce is an important component in the company's sales and marketing efforts. “We want to make sure our clients are taken care of during the entire renovation process,” Liechty says. “We can do that better with our own installation staff, all of whom are cross-trained, which makes things more efficient.”
Long-term goals include opening more branches and upgrading technology.
