Austin, Texas, is a tech-savvy community. To meet and exceed his clients' expectations, Audino Construction owner Mark Audino (pictured with wife and company president Debbie) tries to stay ahead of the technology curve.

One recent innovation: The company now provides wireless network laptops on jobsites so that each of the four project managers has access to all the necessary information for a job and there can be frequent communication between the company and its clients and trade contractors.

Most of Audino's work comes through referrals — many of them from architects and interior designers. “There's nothing better than one professional telling another, ‘This is the guy to use,'” says Audino, who grew up in a construction family.

To keep clients in the loop and make them feel at ease, Audino commandeers a small space for a jobsite office on every project, which includes a laptop, fax machine, and large posted production calendar. “This is a big hit and instills confidence in the client that their project is being professionally managed,” he says.
