Projects in three areas of construction give the J. Francis Co. enough work to span the seasons. Owner John McCloskey (right) targets residential, commercial, and institutional jobs.
Colleges and universities in Pittsburgh have a 10-week period when students are gone for the summer. During that time, his crew takes care of repairs and remodeling. They also do commercial work for small offices and recently added a national pizza chain to their list of clients.
In the residential category, the company also builds additions and remodels bathrooms and kitchens up to $500,000, including $100,000 high-rise condominium projects.
McCloskey says experience in the three categories of building helps his staff handle large projects and tight deadlines. For example, when the condominium project was in a tight downtown area and the pizza chain needed restaurants completed in 12 weeks, it was not an issue for J. Francis.
The company also has a millwork shop where they are able to craft molding, windows, and doors in a timely manner, which helps them meet deadlines.
