It may seem odd to outsiders when you set out in life to be a symphony orchestra conductor and end up as a remodeler, but Debra Moore has found her music in creating beautiful spaces.
Like choosing a favorite instrument, Moore feels her strengths lie in the design process and has been delegating more and more to her competent staff. Moore's métier is what she calls her “bulletproof” design process. She believes educating the client is important and does a full analysis of the clients' home and lifestyle to “demystify the design process,” she says. “I focus holistically and think of the house as a system with everything integral to everything else.”
The intensive up-front preparation pays off. “Construction is the simplest part if the planning is done correctly,” she says, and her change orders are only around 3%.
