As volunteer firefighters, all four members of the Bellamy family have seen insurance restoration from both sides. They've battled fires and worked on repairing the damage caused by them. The company likes insurance work because it's steady. "That is the reason we decided to use that as a niche. It would make our business more level throughout the year," says Sharon (standing, front left).
Having multiple customers -- the insurance company, the homeowner, and sometimes the bank -- can be difficult. The work also involves more paperwork and last-minute scheduling. But the Bellamys are prepared: "We have enough crew and are able to pull people out at the last minute," Bruce (standing, front right) says. And the company uses Exactimate software to deal with the detailed linear foot and unit costs required by insurance companies.
